2. MEN’S HEALTH AND WELLBEING

Let’s Talk About Men’s Health And Wellbeing

View this post on Instagram

MEN’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING According to the Men’s Health Network, a lack of awareness, weak health education, and unhealthy work and personal lifestyles have caused a steady deterioration of the well-being of men. Men die five (5) years younger than women on average – it is one of the starkest inequalities they face. WHY DO WE NEED TO FOCUS ON HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF MEN? 42% of men currently die prematurely (before the age of 75). Helping to improve men’s health allows men to be more healthy active citizens, who can play a meaningful role in their communities for longer. Coronary heart disease kills more men than women and on average men develop it 10-15 years earlier. Men are 60% more likely to develop and 70% more likely to die from a cancer that ‘should’ affect men and women equally (i.e. excluding breast cancer and the sex specific cancers). Men are more likely than women to drink alcohol above recommended levels, smoke cigarettes and eat a poor diet. Three times as many men kill themselves. The suicide rate for men is much higher in deprived areas. Black and ethnic minority men are less likely to seek help for mental health problems. Men use the range of primary care services far less than women and, crucially, take longer to present and receive a diagnosis. Men are slightly more likely than women to use Accident and Emergency Services. #FriendlyHealthWorker

TESTIMONIES
If you missed any of our #TestimonyThursday posts, you can catch up.

TESTIMONY THURSDAY 13
I finally started something that has been on my “Yearly Planner” since forever

TESTIMONY THURSDAY 14

View this post on Instagram

#TestimonyThursday Today, we're sharing testimonies from the wonderful people that have come back with songs of praise… ——– Testimony 1: My testimony is about something/s I had been wanting to start doing again. It's been a rough couple of months for me and probably the last year or more. I used to listen to the radio a lot, I had favorite radio programs on my favorite stations… I love music a lot too and for so long I just stopped, though it gradually slipped away.. (most things I used to enjoy doing). So last weekend, I consciously fixed my FM radio on my phones and started to listen again, it brought some kind of life to the house too… Not TV all the time among other things.. I also caught myself dancing yesterday morning and I laughed so hard! It's been such a long, long time! 😁😁😁😁😁 ********** Testimony 2: Mami. It was you I bothered late last year when the job I applied for didn't come through. Testimony time: I got a seat on a writing gig that will span three months. You sent me a post to encourage me and I held on to it. And now, God came through for me! ———– I'm really excited about these two testimonies. When they shared their burdens with me, I wasn't sure how to advise them. I'm glad that they have lovely testimonies today. Thanks for sharing, my people. I'm expecting more testimonies from my readers. We will all be celebrated, in Jesus' Name.

Business and Career Forum Lessons Part 3 Here is Part 3 of the 13 part series I promised from the last Business and Career Forum I attended. 1. Learn from your mistakes and move on. 2. We can empower women to succeed in business by making it easier for women to access funds – loans, grants, cooperative societies etc. 3. If we, as women (and men), want to succeed in business, we need to #skillup. Every business requires certain skills for success. As the business owner, you need to skill up for yourself and get the best people for the areas you cannot practically be skilled in. 4. Seek for opportunities to cooperate and collaborate with others, including your spouse, to grow your business. Cooperation/collaboration will help us build synergy. 5. Be careful with the #genderwar. Playing one gender against the other may eventually hurt your business. Stay tuned for more of the 13 part series. #StartUpCornerNG #TTMProfessionals
